I lost my wallet sometime last week and found it a few minutes ago while looking for my expired license to use as ID to get across the border. Yeah, that’s right, I found my wallet looking for my ID that was replacing the ID in the wallet. I guess losing it and finding it a week later wasn’t that bad, I got a new birth certificate and a new band card, but my credit card is cancelled so I’m living off of three dollars until Friday. Oh well, it’s a guaranteed good time. Gotta finish packing, work three hours then pick up Kyle. After that it’s off to St. Catherines to pick up Derrick and Joe, then to Buffalo.

Tourist traps, fun roadside attractions, big wastes of time. There’s something enticing about these stupid places, maybe if it’s only breaking the monotony of a long drive. I’ve been to one tourist trap in my life that I can recall and I was only there for a little while but it was a pretty ridiculous place.

Visit Tourist Traps
Driving down the I-95 in North Carolina you start to see signs advertising this place about 175 miles before you get to it.

There are so many of these signs (dozens and dozens) down the I-95 that you’re just sort of sucked in, seeing a new sign is so exciting since the drive through North Carolina isn’t all that special.

Anticipation builds and builds with cheesy jokes on the boards (such as “You never sausage a thing” which is advertising their foot-long hot dogs), and the countdown of miles to go on each sign.

It’s stupid how excited I was getting about a tourist trap.

I tell everyone I know who’s going to the area to stop there, that they have to see it. This place has an amusement park, mini-golf, a bunch of mediocre gift shops, hotels, restaurants, the works. I only got to spend an hour or so there last time I went, it wasn’t amazing but I still somehow want to go back. You just can’t escape it. If anything it’s worth it for the fireworks, fireworks rule.
“Yeah, killer boots man!”
Here I am, sitting at work, wishing I was elsewhere as usual. The first portion of my night here was spent listening to some love jams.
Love Jam (Good and Bad) playlist:
Bon Jovi – Livin’ On A Prayer
Lonestar – Amazed
Celine Dion – My Heart Will Go On
Scorpions – Still Loving You
Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight
Billy Joel – Uptown Girl
Black Sabbath – Changes
Air Supply – All Out Of Love
Whitesnake – Here I Go Again
KISS – Beth
Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart
Carpenters – Superstar
Aerosmith – Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing
Rolling Stones – She’s Like A Rainbow
Meat Loaf – I Would Do Anything For Love
Mr. Big – To Be With You
Old Crow Medicine Show – Wagon Wheel
Neil Young – Only Love Can Break Your Heart
Elton John – Can You Feel the Love Tonight
Bruce Springsteen – Born To Run
The Doors – Light My Fire
The Beatles – She Loves You
First it started off as cheesey sad songs that make my friends think I’m depressed (ha), then it just turned into awesome songs loosely based with love. I should do these sort of playlists more often at work.
Now I’m watching Dumb and Dumber, one of the best road trip movies ever, and one of my favourite movies of all time.
Andrew and I are going to try and make a stop in Aspen. I’m going to try and compile a list of things to do, places to visit, things to see, etc. Ideally I’d like to get a solid list of 100.

Visit Aspen.

Nothing to it really, a ski town full of rich assholes, would probably be a good time.
The main purpose of this blog is to keep track of the things I plan to do next summer. My friend Andrew and I plan on taking America by storm. We’re not really sure what that means yet, but we plan on driving across America and checking out rad things, swamps, deserts, caves, etc. I’ll also use this blog to post things going on in my everyday life.
