I might make this into an ongoing series of entries, we’ll see.

Sights

I plan to eventually start uploading pictures to go along with posts about my day to day life but I currently don’t have a functioning camera. The camera on my phone died and pictures taken with phone cameras are usually awful anyways. I’d like to get a proper camera in the near future, nothing fancy, just enough to document anything worth any interest.

As faux-art as it is, I’d really love to own a polaroid camera. It’s unfortunate that they don’t make polaroid film anymore. It’s hard to take a bad polaroid picture, they’re sort of meant to be of low quality. They’re instant and personal, tangible, unlike digital photographs which can be cease to exist at the click of a button, and while digital photos can be printed, the quality is cheapened by photo paper unless you’re spending a lot of money for proper prints. But for what I want it for, a digital camera will do fine.

Sounds

I’m currently waiting on two of my favourite records by one of my favourite bands, Screeching Weasel, to arrive in the mail. I found My Brain Hurts and Anthem For A New Tomorrow within the last couple weeks on eBay, both records have been out of print for a long time and I scored them at reasonable prices. I’d really like to own the self-titled LP and the version of Boogadaboogadaboogada with the original cover so we’ll see how nice eBay is to me in the future. I also look forward to the day I can hold a copy of the new Morrissey record in my hands, don’t you, Derrick?

Here’s a video of a very interesting band that formed in the 1970’s in the Netherlands called Focus. They were only really ever known for this song and it’s quite different than a lot of their other stuff but there’s a reason, this song rips. The video shows how eccentric or just completely out of his mind Thijs was then.

Focus still exists now but the only original member is Thijs, who looks like a fat piece of shit American and can’t hit any of the notes he used to be able to. When your band sounds like a bad coverband of your former selves, stop. I doubt they even play any shows of merit, I mean they were a one hit wonder band, they’re probably one of those State Fair bands now.

Anyways, check out this great video and then go find a copy of Moving Waves in your local record store. It should be in the section that looks like this:fg_073
